Saatchi & Saatchi has promoted Sathi Anand to ECD of its agency in Malaysia.

He moves up from creative director.

The appointment comes three months after the agency named Dominic Stallard as its new ECD in Singapore.

Bruce Matchett was formerly ECD across both agencies, but has now retired.

The announcement from the agency:

Sathi Anand has been named Executive Creative Director at Saatchi & Saatchi Malaysia effectively immediately. He has overseen the agency’s creative direction over the past four years, developing innovative campaigns in the Malaysian market for brands like Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), Emirates, Kraft and Cadbury.

“Sathi has produced a very passionate creative department within our agency, and has been instrumental to the growth of our current office,” said Paul Roebuck, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Malaysia and Singapore. “He is a leader in the advertising community, nurturing the growth of our people and contributing to the agency’s culture of success.”

Saatchi & Saatchi Malaysia has been recognised for its creative work under the leadership of Sathi. Most recently its ‘You Against Debt’ campaign for BSN was named the Most Innovative Visa Debit Card Launch at the Visa Malaysia Bank Awards; the first time such an accolade has been bestowed to a bank. Sathi was also key in securing Saatchi & Saatchi Malaysia’s win as Agency of Record for all nine Mamee Double Decker (MMDD) brands this year.

With an advertising career spanning 15 years at agencies such as Young & Rubicam, TBWA and Ogilvy & Mather, Sathi has worked with brands such as Adidas, Citibank, CIMB Bank, Heineken, OCBC Bank, Proton, TM and Tourism Malaysia.

“Having Sathi at the creative helm at Saatchi & Saatchi Malaysia contributes to our Network’s already robust footprint in the local market through two uniquely distinct agencies – Saatchi & Saatchi Malaysia and Saatchi & Saatchi Arachnid,” added Roebuck.
