Tony Cundy moves from Beacon Communications to run Wunderman Japan
There has been a change in leadership at Wunderman in Japan, with Beacon Communications strategy director Tony Cundy replacing MD Kennosuke Saito, who moves on after more than four and a half years at the helm of the WPP marketing agency.
Cundy, who brings to an end four years with Beacon Communications, a subsidiary of Dentsu and Publicis Groupe, takes on the new role of president and representative director.
Saito’s next move was unclear at the time of publishing.
“Fluent in both Japanese language and culture, Tony is well suited to lead our Tokyo operations,” Wunderman APAC boss Martin Conneen said. “Tony’s planning expertise and new business expertise will continue our expansion plans for Japan.”
Cundy worked with brands including Lenovo, Marlboro, Nike and Symantec while at Beacon, and has worked for agencies DDB Japan and in Europe, and Hakuhodo:Lintas.
Cundy commented: “Wunderman understands where advertising is headed – it holds creative and strategy in equal value, and leverages data to create real-time consumer engagement across channels. I look forward to working with my colleagues from all disciplines to create the best solutions for our clients.”
