Programmatic trading firm RadiumOne has hired Patrick Darcy from M19, the digital arm of Australian media company Nine Entertainment Co, as its first Asia Pacific commercial director.

Darcy, who took on the head of programmatic role with M19 last July, will lead the advertising platform’s sales efforts across Australia, Japan and Southeast Asia.

“When I look at where the market is heading with automated media buying, I see RadiumOne’s combination of proprietary data and delivery capability as uniquely positioned to service the next stage of evolution in the market”, said Darcy.

“The next phase of growth and sophistication in programmatic advertising is absolutely upon us, especially in this region, and RadiumOne is undoubtedly one of the companies best positioned to lead the industry through this next important phase.”

Darcy has been one of the top specialists in Australia in programmatic trading and has helped to build Mi9’s publisher trading desk.

RadiumOne formally launched in Australia in March and is headed up by managing director and former Microsoft director of advertising and online Kerry McCabe.

“I think that anybody who knows the space well will agree that Pat is exceptional in terms of talent and depth of knowledge across the supply, demand and technology sides of real-time bidding,” said Kerry McCabe, APAC MD, RadiumOne.

“We are deeply committed to building a great leadership team as we expand across the region and Pat is the calibre of individual we need onboard to solve what are often complex business issues for brands and publishers,” he said.

RadiumOne, which was initially known as gWallet, a loyalty and rewards program, is a real-time bidding firm for online, video, social and mobile advertising. It was launched in 2009 by American entrepreneur Gurbaksh Chahal.
