Creative director and Bollywood scriptwriter Prasoon Joshi has been promoted to chairman of McCann Asia Pacific.

He moves up from his current role of president of McCann Worldgroup South Asia and CEO of McCann Worldgroup India, and will work alongside regional president Charles Cadell and Greater China CEO Jesse Lin.

He will continue to be based in Mumbai.

New York, Mumbai, Singapore [September 12, 2014] — McCann Worldgroup today announced that Prasoon Joshi has been promoted to Chairman of McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific. In this position, he will focus—along with Charles Cadell, President of McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific, and Jesse Lin, Chief Executive Officer of McCann Worldgroup Greater China—on driving client businesses through collaboration and integration across one of the world’s fastest growing economies.

Prasoon Joshi is currently President of McCann Worldgroup South Asia as well as CEO of McCann Worldgroup India. In addition to his new regional role, he will continue as CEO of McCann India and remain headquartered in Mumbai. Prasoon Joshi, Charles Cadell and Jesse Lin, will focus on delivering integrated approaches and communications solutions for clients by leveraging all of McCann Worldgroup’s broad capabilities and resources. This range of competencies includes Advertising, Relationship Management, Promotion/Event/ Shopper Marketing, Design, Production, Public Relations, Healthcare, and Digital Marketing.

Recognized as one of the advertising and marketing communications world’s top creative leaders, Prasoon Joshi this year headed the Cannes Lions Titanium and Integrated Jury. He has also been honored by the President of India for his socially impactful work across the country.

Prasoon Joshi first joined McCann India in 2002 as Executive VP and National Creative Director. In 2006, he was named Executive Chairman and Regional Creative Director for McCann Worldgroup South and Southeast Asia. Under his leadership, McCann Worldgroup India has built its position as the most creatively awarded agency in the market while also expanding its multiplatform capabilities.

As part of this expansion, last year it acquired the direct marketing and database company End to End Marketing Solutions which, like McCann, has offices in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai. He has been honored with the esteemed National Award by the President of India for his socially impactful work in Cinema and the Arts. He has developed programs to fight malnutrition, polio, HIV, illiteracy, and poverty, among others. The Times of India had named him among the country’s overall top 60 icons. A published poet and script writer, his work in feature films have won multiple top awards in India, including several Filmfare awards. He holds both an MBA and an advanced degree in physics.
