Edelman China boss Steven Cao reportedly back with family after corruption probe
Steven Cao, the head of Edelman’s China operation, is reportedly back with his family after a period of absence from work during a corruption investigation.
Cao was reported missing from work on 1 August, two and half months ago.
Edelman has learned that Cao has returned to his family.
Cao, who is CEO of the Daniel J. Edelman China Group, went missing soon after his former business associate Rui Chenggang, an anchor for state TV broadcaster CCTV, was detained by the authorities.
Rui and Cao teamed up to launch local PR agency Pegasus Communications in 2002. The agency was acquired by Edelman five years later. The graft probe is believed to be over a stake Rui still had in the agency while working for CCTV.
It is unclear if or when Cao will return to work for Edelman.
