StarHub launches three HD channels

Singapore pay-TV broadcaster StarHub has launched three new high-definition channels – Disney Channel HD, Nickelodeon Asia HD and Asian Food Channel HD.

The announcement:

Singapore, 3 December 2014 StarHub TV is adding even more High Definition (HD) content with the launch of three new HD channels, Disney Channel HD (StarHub TV Ch 312), Nickelodeon Asia HD (StarHub TV Ch 314) and Asian Food Channel HD (StarHub TV Ch 435) on 4 December. The channels will join HGTV (StarHub TV Channel 437) and Fashion One (StarHub TV Channel 442), two HD channels slated to launch on the same day.

The HD channels come just in time for children and their families to catch Star Wars Rebels, a new animated action series continuing the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga, on Disney Channel HD. New titles on Nickelodeon Asia HD include the buddy comedy, Max & Shred, where an unlikely friendship forms when an easy-going snowboarder moves in with a super smart whiz-kid and his family; and an original animation series, Breadwinners, which is about two hilarious booty-shaking ducks operating a bread delivery service out of their awesome jet-fueled van. Finally, food lovers can tune in to Asian Food Channel HD and catch Must Try: Asia where Food Hero winner Sarah Benjamin and the ever-innovative Chef Malcolm Goh travel across Asia’s most popular capitals and tuck into the city’s signature dishes.

“As the pay TV operator with the largest collection of channels in the country, we aim to provide our customers with an extensive range of content over both Standard and High Definition. Moving forward, we will continue working with content partners to add even more HD channels and give customers a top of the line viewing experience,” said Ms Lee Soo Hui, Head of Media Business Unit, StarHub.

Disney Channel HD, Nickelodeon Asia HD will be available on the Kids Basic HD Upsize; while Asian Food Channel HD will be on the Lifestyle Basic HD Upsize. The channels are HD simulcasts of their respective Standard Definition channels.

New and existing StarHub TV HD Upsize subscribers will be able to enjoy the new HD channels at no additional charge, depending on their Basic Tier subscription. Customers who wish to view the new HD channels can sign up for the HD Upsize for a monthly subscription of $8.56 (w/GST) on top of the respective Basic Tier subscription. Customers will need an HD set-top box to view the channels.
