US brand agency KBS launches in China

Kirshenbaum Bond Senecal + Partners, a New York-based brand agency, has set up an office in Asia, opening for business in Shanghai.

The Shanghai office will be led by Douglas Lin, who joins from TBWA\Digital Arts Network where he was China MD, and Jonathan Ip, the former digital ECD at Saatchi & Saatchi Greater China.

Lin assumes the role of partner and CEO, Ip as partner and chief creative officer. The duo will work with the agency’s global executive chairman Lori Senecal on building the business in China.

KBS, the agency says, is known for its work for global clients, and will bring that expertise to Chinese companies looking to expand internationally.

Senecal said: “In building a global presence, we have identified world-class partners capable of winning and running global businesses from any location.”

“Douglas and Jon are globally-minded leaders and two of the most respected talents within the region. They are well-known for their entrepreneurial spirit and superb work in Asian markets, making them our ideal partners in helping build KBS China. Together, we are already building KBS China to be a true invention agency – one that is at the forefront of maker culture.”

Lin has worked in the US for agencies including McCann Relationship Marketing, and New Zealand where he ran the digital arm of Clemenger/AIM Proximity. He has also worked in Singapore.

Ip has worked in the US, Hong Kong and China, for BBDO/Proximity and Saatchi & Saatchi.

The Shanghai operation of KBS builds on a network of offices in New York, London, Los Angeles, Toronto and Montreal.
