M&C Saatchi moves Chris Steedman from Sydney to Singapore to roll-out mobile offering

M&C Saatchi MobileM&C Saatchi is rolling out its mobile offering across Asia, moving the unit’s APAC MD Chris Steedman from Sydney to Singapore to spearhead its expansion.

Steedman has held the role of MD of M&C Saatchi Mobile since July 2013, and will lead a team in Singapore to service clients in Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, China, India and Australia.

He was part of the team that founded M&C Saatchi Mobile in London in 2008, and aided its launch in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Cape Town and Sydney, where he has won new clients including Skype and ZALORA.

Steedman said that there was a “huge opportunity” in Asia for mobile as brands in this region are “living in a mobile-first world”. However, he suggested that many other agencies were paying “lip service” to mobile while in reality what they offer is a “bolt on” to their core competency.

“Many agencies pay lip service to offering mobile media but in reality it’s a bolt-on to their core competency. We are mobile media specialists who have lived and breathed the space since before the first smart phone rolled off the production line,” Steedman said.

“Our particular expertise is in joining the dots as to how mobile connects to the other media channels to ensure brands engage with consumers at every step along the customer journey. Having the backing of the vast M&C Saatchi worldwide network helps this,” he said.

M&C Saatchi Mobile offers mobile and digital media strategy, planning and buying; creative, branding and rich media, app SEO; search and social.

M&C Saatchi Asia CEO Chris Jacques said: “The arrival of M&C Saatchi Mobile in our region is extremely exciting. It’s a business unrivalled anywhere in the world for its mobile IP, smarts and experience. We’re thrilled to be able to both leverage this for our clients and provide network support to enable Chris and his team to provide their expertise to other brands wanting to grow via the media device people have on them 24/7.”
