PHD Australia strategy chief Chris Stephenson to head to Singapore for new regional role

Chris Stephenson, one of Australia’s brightest media thinkers, is being promoted to the newly created role of regional head of strategy and planning APAC for media agency network PHD.

His new role will be effective by early March, and he will relocate from Sydney to Singapore.

Susana Tsui, who is 18 months into her role as regional CEO of PHD, commented: “We are delighted that Chris is joining the regional team. He will play a key role in strengthening PHD’s value proposition in the region.”

PHD Australia, which counts ANZ Bank and PepsiCo among its clients, racked up 21 new business wins last year including work for Priceline, Bayer, Infiniti and Amaysim.

Stephenson joined the Australian branch of the Omnicom-owned agency from Vizeum in London in 2009. In his earlier career, he worked as a communications planner at MediaCom.

Mark Coad, CEO of PHD Australia, said in a statement: “Chris has a stellar reputation in our industry and this promotion is recognition of the excellent contribution he has made to PHD Australia.”

“One of his many achievements in Australia has been the successful strategy team he has built and nurtured within the agency. Chris leaves that team in the capable hands of [Sydney-based head of communications planning] Stewart Gurney.”
