HONG KONG — January 21, 2015 — In response to the continued expansion of its integrated, regional business, global independent communications agency Waggener Edstrom (WE) today announced the promotion of Henry Wood to Head of Studio D, Asia Pacific. In his new role, Henry will drive the agency’s digital service offering, including its Insights & Analytics, Content, Creative and Social Media teams.

“Over the past six years, Henry has not only contributed the agency’s ongoing digital evolution and growth across consumer, healthcare and technology sectors, he has also led award-winning work for some of our most sophisticated clients,” said Matthew Lackie, Senior Vice President, Waggener Edstrom Communications. “I know that Henry’s blend of fresh, counter-intuitive thinking and deep expertise will be a great benefit to our clients, partners and teams. I can’t wait to see him lead Studio D into the next era of integrated communications in Asia.”

Henry started his career with WE in 2009 as the Hong Kong Digital Lead; his remit later expanded to a Greater China role. Henry has over 15 years’ experience across Advertising, Public Relations and Marketing disciplines, servicing some of the world’s most iconic brands such as DFS, Moët & Chandon, LG, Shangri-La, Jetstar and MediaTek. He has resided in Asia since 2001, in both Beijing, where he worked with Ogilvy Public Relations, and Hong Kong, his current home where he moved to work with Profero.

“Asia’s vibrant and dynamic communications industry continues to evolve. Clients are increasingly shifting their focus toward insight and data-led programs featuring creative content,” said Henry. “Additionally, businesses in Asia are often less bound by legacy; this means we have the opportunity to be more nimble and creative in the thinking we bring to our clients, and be at the forefront of experimentation to create new standards of innovation in the work we do.”

Henry’s promotion follows a stellar year for WE’s digital arm in Asia, with Studio D growing 65% in revenue and 42% in staffing. The team has earned numerous awards, including Gold in Research & Planning for DFS at the 2014 APAC SABRE Awards and Best Use of Analytics for Microsoft Advertising at the 2013 PRWeek Asia Awards. Studio D has also driven thought-leadership with the publication of its flagship “Content Matters 2014” research on the ROI of content marketing and brand storytelling across 10 Asian markets.
