Advertising agency Y&R has hired Belgian national Vincent Van Dessel to fill the vacant top job in Vietnam.

Van Dessel moves to Ho Chi Minh City from Brussels, where he was CEO of McCann Belgium and oversaw a recent merger with IPG sibling Lowe.

He succeeds Matthew Collier, who was head of Y&R’s Vietnam-based Indochina operation before moving to Jakarta to run Y&R Indonesia in September last year.

He will report to Sanjay Bhasin, CEO of Y&R Southeast Asia, who said in a press release that Van Dessel will prove to be the ideal leader for such a young team in Vietnam.

Bhasin noted: “His enthusiasm and commitment to working in Asia generates an energy that is set to drive Y&R Vietnam to even more success in 2015.”

In Van Dessel’s career, he was worked at Publicis, TBWA, McCann and Lowe. This is his first working experience in Asia.
