Agencies with local bosses win SG50 pitch

Pioneering spiritAgencies run by locals emerged as the winners of a pitch for a campaign to promote SG50, the celebrations surrounding Singapore’s 50th anniversary.

A team of agencies including ad agency DDB Singapore and its digital arm Tribal Worldwide, which are run by CEO David Tang, and media agency UM Singapore, which is led by Pat Lim – another high-profile Singaporean agency boss – won in a contest that involved seven other agencies, Marketing reported earlier this afternoon.

The agencies did not comment on the win.

The brief, set by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, is for a community outreach and engagement campaign.

Marketing around SG50 kicked off with the Portraits of the People push, which invited Singaporeans to share their reflections on 50 years of independence from Malaysia. The campaign was devised by UM’s IPG sibling agencies McCann and MRM.
