Amobee co-founder Harry Dewhirst acquires stake in PR agency Mutant Communications

Harry Dewhirst

Harry Dewhirst, the co-founder of Amobee, the ad tech firm acquired by SingTel for US$321 million three years ago, has acquired a stake in Mutant Communications, the Singapore PR firm used by Dewhirst’s current employer BlisMedia.

Dewhirst’s money will go towards expanding three of the three year-old agency’s practices – HR and recruitment; luxury, lifestyle and events; and media and technology.

The agency is planning to grow its staff number to 20 this year, and is eyeing the Philippines as a potential launch market.

Dewhirst joined BlisMedia in July last year as president and chief commercial officer. The announcement of his arrival was press released by Mutant.

The agency’s founder, Joseph Barratt, said: “Harry’s investment places us in a fantastic position to expand our team of experts and offerings for specialised industries.”

“Combining our PR and content expertise with a growing market position and Harry’s experience in developing global companies, Mutant is positioned for strong growth in the coming years,” he added.

Dewhirst commented: “Mutant has been going from strength to strength since its launch, and has a proven track record of achieving real results for clients. I am impressed by its strong blend of industry expertise and talented approach to PR and content, which has set it up for impressive growth. It’s a privilege to be involved in the next chapter of Mutant.”
