Jean-Paul Burge to run BBDO Asia as Chris Thomas heads to US, China CEO Carol Potter exits

Ad agency BBDO has appointed a new regional CEO as news emerges that current boss Chris Thomas is leaving Asia after nine years.

Jean-Paul Burge, president of BBDO Southeast Asia and Singapore CEO, steps up to CEO and chairman, Asia, as Thomas moves to a role running the agency in the Americas.

Carrol Potter, who runs BBDO’s Chinese operations as CEO, is moving on after nine years with the company, AdAge is reporting. She will be replaced by Tze Kiat Tan, who rises from MD to CEO.

Other title changes in China see executive planning director Hans Lopez-Vito promoted to chief strategy officer and Wai Foong Leong named chairman and chief creative officer.

Thomas, who was chairman and CEO of BBDO Asia, Middle East and Africa, retains his role as chairman of I&S BBDO Japan and chairman of Proximity Worldwide.

He moves in May and will report to BBDO’s global boss Andrew Robertson.
