BBC Worldwide has appointed a new sales director for South Asia to replace Taranjeet Singh, who moved to Twitter’s Indian operation as business director at the start of the year.

Vishal Bhatnagar joins BBC from Network18 News Media, where he has worked for over a decade. He will lead sales for the Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore offices and be based Delhi.

Singh joined Twitter in January after more than a decade with BBC.

Bhatnagar will report to John Williams, VP of ad sales for ASEAN and India.

Williams said: “Vishal brings with him a proven track record in business development across traditional and new media in the highly dynamic and fast moving Indian national market, and we are delighted to welcome him to BBC Advertising. As we look to drive future growth across South Asia, Vishal’s experience in leading teams, coupled with the premium content opportunities offered by the BBC, will be invaluable.”
