BBDO has hired Theresa Ong from J. Walter Thompson in China to strengthen its creative department in Singapore.

Ong will report to ECD Primus Nair, and work on clients including Guinness, Fonterra and Tiger Beer.

At JWT Beijing, where she was creative director for just over a year and a half, Ong worked with the likes Microsoft, Nokia, Intel, Singapore Tourism Board China, Hertz and Shell.

Danny Searle, chief creative officer and vice chairman, BBDO Asia and chairman, BBDO Singapore, said: “I’m really looking forward to working with Theresa. It took a long time and a lot of interviews to find the right person. She has built her career with great work on big clients across Asia.”

Ong added: “BBDO is accelerating in an exciting direction with its clients and culture. I’m happy to be cresting the wave alongside such a formidable team.”

Before JWT Beijing, Ong led the regional creative department for Enfatico, a specialist agency set up by Y&R and JWT to service Dell. She has also worked for DDB Singapore, Batey and Dentsu.

Her arrival comes five months after BBDO Singapore parted ways with chief creative officer Ronald Ng. Ng moved on to the top creative job at DigitasLBi in the US.
