Singapore gay rights movement Pink Dot SG: ‘Some dreams are always worth fighting for’

Singapore gay rights movement Pink Dot SG has launched a film to promote its upcoming rally in June.

In the three-minute film titled ‘Where love lives’, directed by Boo Junfeng, the struggle of LGBT people is documented in the conservative country where homosexuality is still criminalised.

“Too many of my gay friends have left these shores because of intolerance,” says a woman attending last year’s rally in the film.

Pink Dot 2015 is to take place on 13 June at Hong Lim Park at 5pm.

The Gunnery, which produced the film, is a sponsor of the event as it was last year. New sponsors this year are Twitter, cinema complex Cathay and Bloomberg. Returning sponsors are Google, Barclays, J P Morgan, Goldman Sachs and BP.

Contact lens maker Cooper Vision and Parkway on Pickering, a hotel that overlooks Hong Lim Park, did not sponsor the event again this year.
