Singtel appoints Havas Media as media agency

Singtel logoSingtel, one of Singapore’s largest advertisers, has appointed Havas Media as its media agency, replacing incumbent MEC.

A statement from Singtel shared with Mumbrella this afternoon reads:

After a rigorous, multi-stage tender process, Singtel has appointed Havas Media Singapore as its agency of record, awarding to it media planning and buying duties across Singtel in Singapore.

Havas Media has demonstrated their media planning thought-leadership and strength in digital innovation, which is very much in line with Singtel’s vision as a company.

We wish to sincerely thank MEC who have been a great partner over the years, with our collaboration resulting in many award-winning campaigns. We wish them every success.

The result brings to an end a review that began in December last year, and comes just a few weeks after MEC lost its regional CEO, Stephen Li, to rival OMD. The GroupM agency is also facing a global review of its Singapore Airlines account.

Singtel’s media agency appointment comes five months after the company launched a huge rebranding initiative and introduced the slogan ‘Let’s make everyday better’.

Singtel has also changed its ad agency relatively recently, bringing in Ogilvy in October 2013 after a stint working with BBDO.
