Arindam ‘Chats’ Chatterjee has joined Ogilvy’s Malaysia office to take on the role of regional planning director.

He joins the agency from Publicis Worldwide in Singapore where he was head of strategy planning.

The announcement:

KUALA LUMPUR, 22 June 2015 – Arindam ‘Chats’ Chatterjee has joined Ogilvy & Mather (“O&M”) as Regional Planning Director working across a portfolio of international brands – Mondelēz International (Cadbury), Yum! Brands (Pizza Hut) and Kimberly-Clark (Huggies and Kotex). He reports to Soames Hines, the client lead for O&M Asia Pacific and Paul Matheson, regional head of planning.

Chatterjee will be based in Kuala Lumpur where O&M has a Southeast Asia hub for a number of clients and will partner with Campbell Cannon and Daan van Rossum, as well as O&M Malaysia’s highly acclaimed Executive Creative Director, Gavin Simpson.

Chatterjee’s 19 years of experience includes strategic planning roles with a number of agencies across South and Southeast Asia, including India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore for businesses such as P&G, Nestlé (Nescafe, Maggi), PepsiCo, Fonterra, and Yum! Brands, to name a few.

Hines said, “Clients are looking for marketing that is more effective and more cost efficient, as well as more innovative. That means agencies working in new and evolving service models. Chats’ appointment further strengthens our data and insight capabilities in Kuala Lumpur and links those with the planning insights that clients still need as a basis for effectiveness. He will be playing a key role in expanding our ‘dynamic content’ hub in addition to his client responsibilities.”

Kent Wertime, Chief Operating Officer of O&M Asia-Pacific and Chairman of Ogilvy Malaysia, said, “We are thrilled to have Chats join the Ogilvy Malaysia team. In addition to his client responsibilities, he will play a role, along with a number of other key team members, in expanding our NOVA social media content studio, which provides new forms of online brand content.”
