Airbnb creates ’60s home on Esplanade stage for ‘biggest fan of SG50’ video contest

Airbnb stunt at the Esplanade

Airbnb has turned the main stage of the Esplanade theatre in Singapore into a 1960’s-themed home where the winner of a competition to find “the biggest fan of S50” will stay for a night and get four tickets to the National Day Parade over the Jubilee weekend.

Contestants need to make a 15-second video wishing Singapore a happy birthday. The most creative entry wins. The results will be posted on the brand’s Facebook page on 5 August.

The winner, who can take a guest, will get a meal at Esplanade’s rooftop restaurant, a behind-the-scenes tour and be taught joget (traditional Malay dance) steps while wearing traditional Peranakan dress from the Main Wayang Company.

The installation, called A night through time, is a tribute to 1960’s Singapore “in all its elegance and simplicity.”
