Alvin Neo named APPIES chairman

Alvin NeoThe Institute of Advertising Singapore has named Alvin Neo as the chairman of this year’s APPIES, an awards programme for Asia’s most successful marketing campaigns.

The highly regarded former Johnson & Johnson and P&G marketer, who is CMO at Parkway Pantai hospitals, comes in to replace René de Monchy, who is leaving Singapore and his role running marketing for Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore to return to New Zealand.

The APPIES, which involves live presentations from agencies around the region to state their case for the impact of their campaigns, will feature as keynote speakers Sam Ahmed, SVP head of marketing, MasterCard Asia Pacific and Sameer Satpathy, CMO of Marico.

The theme at this year’s event is “Relearn everything”.

The event is being supported by Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore, BBDO Singapore, Black Marketing Asia, zPixel, WARC.com, Singapore Press Holdings, The Edge, NBCU Global Networks Asia, MediaCorp and Singtel.

India and Singapore dominated the winners at last year’s APPIES. BBDO was the most awarded agency.
