Starcom wins BMW from Carat in China

BMW ChinaBMW has appointed Starcom MediaVest Group to handle its digital and traditional media planning and buying activity in China after a competitive pitch.

The account, which covers the BMW and Mini brands, is reported to be worth between $300-320 million a year and comes as a blow to Dentsu Aegis Network agency Carat, which has handled the business since 2006.

Omnicom media agency OMD was also involved in the pitch, Mumbrella understands.

The news has been widely circulating in social media. However, Starcom and BMW have yet to formally confirm the move.
