We Are Social Asia boss Simon Kemp starts consultancy Kepios

Simon Kemp, the Asia boss of We Are Social, appears to have started a business of his own.

After four years at We Are Social, the last year and a half as regional managing partner, the Scot has started a consultancy called Kepios.

Update: We Are Social has said that Kemp is staying with the agency, and Kepios will exist as a complementary service.

In a statement, the agency said: “Simon Kemp remains Regional Managing Partner of We Are Social Singapore, and a key member of our global management team. Kepios is a new offering that sits alongside We Are Social and offers different but complementary services to the agency.”

Kepios has a new company website as well as a LinkedIn and Facebook pages. We Are Social says the new venture is 100 per cent owned by them, although Kemp is the only executive listed in the ‘Who we are section’ of Kepios’ website.

Like his Twitter handle @eskimon, the new company uses letters from Kemp’s name.

According to his company’s LinkedIn page, Kepios “helps you to identify and understand your organisation’s highest-value opportunities and challenges, and address them with strategies and activities designed for lasting success.”

The core services Kepios offers are defined as “doctor”, “psychologist” and “personal trainer” for business planning, brand strategy and team development.

A popular presence on Twitter, @eskimon has amassed more than 160,000 followers and frequently posts his thoughts on social and data on the social media landscape in Asia.

Kemp authored the book Social Brands. The future of marketing.

Kemp joined We Are Social in 2011 as MD of the Singapore office from BBH, where he was an engagement planner. Prior to that he was Asia Pacific communications director at Universal McCann.

Over his career, he has worked with clients including Pepsi, Nestle, Unilever, Maybank, Bayer and Singapore Tourism Board.

He has been a consultant before. Before joining Starcom as consumer context planning director in 2007, Kemp worked for Ascension as a consultant and Accenture as an analyst.

Mumbrella enquired about Kemp moving on two months ago, when We Are Social launched an office in China and the outspoken executive was not quoted in the press release. Kemp did not respond.

We Are Social has seen a number of management moves over the last year. Key changes were the hire of Don Anderson from Fleishmann-Hillard to run the Singapore office just over a year ago, and Suzie Shaw from Host to lead the Australian operation, announced last month.
