Bug spray app alerts Indians to areas at risk from malaria and dengue

Track the biteThe digital arm of Lowe Lintas, Linteractive, has created an app for bug spray Kala HIT that informs people in India when they are near areas at risk from dengue and malaria.

The location-based mobile app gives information in real-time on where the risks of malaria and dengue-carrying mosquitoes are high, gives tips on how to stay safe, and enables the user to alert friends about infestation in their area.

A Twitter push using the hashtag #HarKoneMeinDanger is being used to promote the app, which has been made available on Google Play store for Android users and is soon to roll out for iOS users.

As part of the campaign, the brand is going on a 4,000 kilometre road tour from Delhi to Bangalore to educate people about the dangers of dengue and other mosquito-born diseases.

Sunil Kataria, business head India, Godrej Consumer Products said: “This year on the occasion of World Mosquito Day, we are unveiling HIT – Track the Bite App, a latest initiative on our mission to provide real time information to people. We are hoping that this information will empower people to fight the threat of dengue and malaria.”

The app launches to mark World Mosquito Day on 20 August.
