Time Out Singapore gives away 100,000 copies and triples circulation in ‘Week of free’ promo

Time Out SingaporeWhat’s on city guide Time Out Singapore is handing out thousands of free magazines in a campaign to ramp up its circulation with special offers and giveaways.

The magazine is giving away 100,000 copies – which publisher Mongoose says triples its current circulation – of a September issue that details the best stuff to do in the city for nothing, and includes deals and freebie offers on Time Out Singapore’s website.

This is the first time the magazine has gone free. The move is not permanent, unlike Time Out London’s move to go free in 2012 and Time Out New York’s in April this year. Time Out Singapore will go back on sale for S$3.95 after this promotion.

The ‘Week of free’, which runs from 31 August to 4 September, is to be ended with a party at ME@OUE on Friday, 11 September.

“This is a major milestone for the brand and truly a first in Asia,” said Russell Channon, MD for Mongoose Publishing Singapore. “With the buzz and activity happening around Singapore in September, we are certain this will create a big splash in the media landscape and set the inroads for a larger scale presence in the market.”

The Time Out brand was introduced to Singapore in 2006, under licence by Ink Publishing. Mongoose took over the franchise in 2013. The cover price has not changed since launch.
