W, a PR agency based in London, has opened an office in Singapore, its first Asian operation.

The agency, whose mantra is ‘creative commerce’, will be led by Annabel Fox, who moves from Singapore entertainment brand Attica, where she was PR and marketing director.

Fox was among the founding directors of W when the agency started out in London in 2009 and worked there as head of media until moving to Asia in 2013. She takes on the role of MD of the Singapore office.

W Singapore’s founding clients include ad tech firm AppNexus, British street food chain MEATliquor and Attica, a night club. The firm’s UK clients include Levi’s, L’Oréal, W Hotels, Hendrick’s Gin and Unilever.

Warren Johnson, founder and CEO of W, said he was happy to be launching in such a “multi-cultural, cosmopolitan city, renowned for its world class infrastructure.”

“As one of the key media centres in the Asia-Pacific region, Singapore’s culture of entrepreneurial creativity, and its reputation for attracting maverick brands and start-ups, make it a natural home for W. Today’s news marks an important step towards our ambition of becoming the first truly independent global creative network,” he said.

Fox added: “After spending the last few years in Southeast Asia working in the entertainment, media and hospitality sectors, I have seen Singapore’s commercial presence flourish alongside its arts and cultural scenes. This is a really exciting time for Singapore so I can’t wait to head up the team for W here, and after three years away it’s great to be back in the W fold’.”

Before Attica, Fox was PR director for Banyan Tree’s beach club operations in Phuket.
