Oreo asks Malaysians for ideas to make their country great in musical Merdeka Day ad

Oreo Malaysia videoOreo, the Mondelez International biscuit brand, launched a campaign timed around independence day in Malaysia that the company says has garnered 150,000 views on YouTube and Facebook, and 1,179 shares in five days.

A music video asks Malaysians to think of ideas to “make Malaysia great”. The narrator in the film sings: “Wonder if we took this moment to share our ideas and together we’d join to make Malaysia great, embrace all colours and create Jalur Gemilang (the Malaysian flag, known as the Stripes of Glory) that’s what we’d make”.

In a press release, Tan Chian Pang, head of biscuits and snacks at Mondelez Malaysia Sales Sdn Bh, said: “The Wonderfilled campaign in Malaysia is all about unlocking positive transformation by igniting that sense of childlike curiosity and wonder inside each of us. It’s easy to sometimes lose that sense of wonder with all the busyness of life, and negative news we have been encountering lately as a nation.”

Tan continued: “We want to get the kid inside all of us to see outside the ordinary, cynical world by injecting wonder into everyday life. We believe that through sharing and connecting with an open heart, Malaysians can be inspired more than ever to create meaningful moments together as citizens in building a future filled with positivity and harmony.”
