Travel website Wego has announced new leadership in Indonesia with the appointment of former Starcom executive Ruwie S. Rahardjo as general manager.

The announcement:

Singapore, 4 November, 2015 – Wego, the leading travel search site in the Asia Pacific and Middle East, announced today the appointment of Ruwie S. Rahardjo, as General Manager, Wego Indonesia.

The appointment is the result of the relocation of Graham Hills, who lead Indonesian operations over the past four and a half years, and has now been promoted to Chief Product Officer based in Wego’s global headquarters in Singapore.

Rahardjo has over 15 years’ experience in digital production and marketing and has a keen understanding of the continuously evolving digital landscape in Indonesia. She is a passionate traveller and supporter of local industry growth, and previously a member of the Mobile Marketing Association and a representative member in Indonesia’s Digital e-Commerce Association (idEA).

“I’m very excited to be joining Wego who pioneered the travel search vertical in this country, and demonstrated a solid commitment to both the local travel industry and Indonesian travellers,” said Rahardjo.

“Indonesia’s online landscape is still rapidly evolving and I’m eager to continue to grow the valuable local business relationships that have been established, and expand Wego’s presence in this country,” she added.

Hills was appointed General Manager of Wego Indonesia in February 2011, to launch www.wego.co.id, and lead the Jakarta team in our dedicated regional office soon after. He has relocated to Wego’s Singapore headquarters promoted to Chief Product Officer, leading the development team and setting the global product strategy.

Hills’ local knowledge and experience in developing an individual market, is especially advantageous to Wego’s strategy of local relevance in terms of product development.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time to be working with Wego,” said Hills of his appointment. “While I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time in Jakarta building Wego’s business in Indonesia, I’m just as excited to be heading up our extremely talented development team, and taking Wego to the next level.”

“Wego has always been committed to product development with a consistent focus on improving the user experience,” he added. “But we’re upping the ante going forward, and I’m extremely enthusiastic about working with the team on more innovative projects in the future.”

Hills will support Rahardjo in terms of continuing the valuable relationships established during his tenure, and will return to Jakarta to personally introduce her to Wego’s key partners and assist in the transition.
