Google backs Singapore’s SMEs to ‘Go global’ by getting online

Go GlobalGoogle, along with a number of other partners including UOB, Singapore Post and Spring Singapore, has launched an initiative to help small to medium sized businesses in the citystate reach a global audience by using the internet.

A campaign by Host Singapore and Toaster shows SMEs how to use the web to export their wares, with tools, case studies and tutorials featuring local industry figures housed on the Go Global website.

One of the films shows how using Google AdWords, Google Analytics and YouTube has helped increased sales across the region for 69-year-old Swee Lee Music Company.

Another of the videos features Google sales manager Gerald Lee talking about how businesses can get started on the internet.

Andrew Hook, group executive creative director at Host Singapore, commented: “The Internet provides tremendous opportunities for SMEs to expand their business globally. As well as engaging with the Go Global partners on building an online resource base, we worked with two local heroes, Skin Inc and Swee Lee, to showcase what SMEs can achieve in the global marketplace with the right tools, strategies and digital know-how.”
