The APPIES comes to Malaysia

The Appies MalaysiaThe APPIES, an awards show where the entrants must make their case in front of a jury and industry audience, is to launch in Malaysia.

The conference and awards format, which were originated by the Institute of Advertising Singapore seven years ago, is to be brought to Malaysia through a partnership between Harmandar Singh’s Sledgehammer Communications, the publisher of the Malaysia’s Marketing Magazine, and IAS.

The APPIES are well regarded by the industry because the live presentation format has the effect of helping to curb scam – work created purely to win awards.

The judging panel will be led by Adam Wee Abdullah, group CMO of CIMB Banking Group.

The deadline for entries is 29 February. Entries must have run between 1 January 2015 and 31 January 2016 to be eligible.

The categories are consumer durables, consumer services, food and beverage, non-food FMCG, business services, government, cultural, social and environmental.

“What sets the APPIES apart from other events is that each featured campaign is presented live by the brand marketers and campaign creators themselves before a panel of judges and an industry audience. Only outstanding campaigns that have a unique marketing success story will go on to win the APPIES Gold or Silver trophies,” commented Singh.

The last APPIES Awards in Singapore in August last year saw BBH and McCann lead the way, both claiming five gold awards.
