Ad agency J. Walter Thompson and its digital sister Mirum have launched a social offering in Singapore that will operate across both agency brands.

Nanda Ivens, APAC CEO of Mirum, explained in a press release that the new unit, called The Social Team and comprised of writers, designers, analysts and strategists from both agencies, was “all about creating synergies for our clients.”

The offering is to roll-out across the region where the two agencies share offices, and where there’s a strong demand for social media marketing, the agency has said.

The Social Team will be led in Singapore by Ivan Ng, Mirum’s head of social, and Kimberley Olsen, who joined Mirum from Vocanic a year ago to set up a social function. The unit – the first to operate across both brands – will offer digital, analytics, content, strategy and creative.

“We’ve got social media expertise in both our agencies, we’ve got a tier-one content production unit at JWT, a market-leading digital and social analytics team at Mirum – it made sense, from the client’s point of view, to bring together a ‘best of’ team to deliver the social media strategy and content they need,” said Ivens.

J. Walter Thompson Singapore CEO, Peter Womersley added: “Mirum and JWT are building ever closer ties, and The Social Team has been set up in response to the increasing clamour from our clients for a specialist team of experts who use data to inform content planning and manage real time engagement communications.”

“The combination of JWT’s brand centric approach to delivering pioneering ideas and Mirum’s technology platform expertise will ensure our clients have powerful, high quality social content that connects with consumers in a meaningful manner. Brands are finding it increasingly challenging to cut through the morass of information available in the social world and I am incredibly excited by the unique service this new venture will offer,” he said.

Since Olsen and Ng joined Mirum, the agency has won new clients including American Tourister, Dulux Paint, Clarke Quay and Crabtree & Evelyn.
