DeVries Global hires Mindshare’s Maddy Rao as head of strategy

Maddy RoweIPG PR agency DeVries Global has hired Maddy Rao from Mindshare as EVP for client management and strategy based in Singapore.

NEW YORK AND SINGAPORE, 9 MARCH 2016 — DeVries Global, an international communications micro-network with offices across the U.S., Asia and Europe, announced today the appointment of Maddy Rao as Executive Vice President, Client Management & Strategy.

In her new role at DeVries, Rao will serve as the client relationship leader for global, regional and local clients in Singapore, expanding her focus across Asia over time. Rao will also assist in fast-tracking the agency’s integrated capabilities.

Rao joins DeVries Global from Mindshare, where she served as Managing Partner, Global Planning. She brings a forward vision on the convergence of marketing communications functions, deep consumer user journey work, extensive digital expertise and both global perspective and broad regional understanding.

In her new role at DeVries Global, Rao will report directly to newly-appointed Asia Regional Managing Director, Andres Vejarano, who is set to join DeVries Global in April. Rao will be based in Singapore and commences her new role on 9 March.

These shifts take place as DeVries Global veteran DeLisa Harmon’s two-year secondment as Managing Director, Singapore comes to a close. During her tenure in Singapore, Harmon quickly established a dynamic culture, attracting global citizens from 10 Asia Pacific nations and implementing programs to cultivate their personal and professional development. This included diversifying the client portfolio, bringing in cross-category business such as National Gallery Singapore, Anjali Chocolat, CÉ LA VI, and most recently, Johnson & Johnson’s Acuvue to complement the agency’s expertise in beauty.

The DeVries Global Singapore Managing Director responsibilities will migrate to Andres Vejarano, who will oversee the DeVries Asia footprint. Vejarano’s appointment and recent senior promotions in the U.K. operation fall under improvements being made to bolster DeVries Global’s operational and leadership models, a strategy led by Ivette Sanz Osso, EVP of Global Practices. Through 2016, Osso will focus on helping the organization fuel incremental business growth in key territories.
