Publicis names Asia boss for Publicis One

menatPublicis One, the new global division of Publicis Groupe that will oversee all agencies outside its top 20 countries, will be led in Asia by Nicolas Menat, president of Japan-based advertising agency Beacon Communications.

He will be supported by Ricardo Roces as CFO, the finance chief at Beacon and former CFO of Publicis-owned PR operation MSL Group.

Publicis One, led globally by Leo Burnett APAC boss Jarek Ziebinski, emerged as part of a far-reaching restructure that saw the formation of four divisions to oversee its top 20 markets; Publicis Communications, Publicis Media, Publicis Health and Publicis.Sapient.

Publicis One was created to oversee agencies everywhere else, which amounts to 50 countries across Latin America, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Markets outside the top 20 generate only 10 per cent of Publicis revenues.

At the time of the restructure, the company said the revenue disparity meant smaller markers were “not getting the attention they rightfully deserve”, something it said will be addressed by Publicis One.

Publicis Groupe chairman and chief executive Maurice Lévy said in a statement yesterday: “Publicis One is a totally new approach to the market with end-to-end solutions. I am convinced that under the leadership of Jarek Ziebinski, Publicis One will deliver the very best to our clients, attract the best talents and offer great career opportunities to be the greatest agency in each market.

“I have great confidence in the team chosen by Jarek.”

Ziebinski added: “At the beginning of this year we started a very significant transformation of Publicis Groupe that includes the creation of Publicis One, a new global communications enterprise.

“As we embark on this journey, our very first mission is to create a strong leadership team.

“The new Publicis One team comprises experienced leaders who represent the crème de la crème of Publicis Groupe talent, bringing diverse backgrounds, skill sets, entrepreneurial mindset and a brand agnostic approach to our work.”

Elsewhere, Latin America will be led by Monica Gadsby while EMEA – which covers 25 countries – will be split into three distinct regions with Johan Parmentier appointed CEO for Benelux, Misa Lukic named boss Central Eastern Europe while Kevin Tromp has been appointed CEO of publicis One in Africa.

At a global management level, Alice McCreath has been named chief financial officer, Maree Prendergast chief talent officer and Karen Lim communications director.
