Darren Yuen has moved on from Carat in Malaysia after 19 years with the media agency and taken the MD role at BPN.

He joins the IPG Mediabrands agency just one month after he was promoted to CEO of Carat Malaysia.

He moves over to be reunited with former Carat colleague Bala Pomaleh, who made the switch from the Dentsu Aegis Network firm in March to run IPG Mediabrands Malaysia, replacing Prashant Kumar.

Yuen replaces Ramakrishnan CN, who led BPN for the last two years and is moving on from the business “to pursue his personal goals,” according to the agency.

Commenting on Yuen appointment, Pavan Kharbanda, regional commercial director, APAC and CFO IPG Mediabrands Malaysia, said: “Darren is someone I knew since my schooling days where he had shown the same tenacity and passion. Even till today, he demonstrates the same qualities which will lead BPN to greater heights.”

Yuen’s move at a time of considerable upheaval for Dentsu Aegis Network in Malaysia, and comes the week after the surprising and abrupt departure of long-serving Dentsu Malaysia boss SP Lee.

Nicky Lim was appointed to run the Dentsu Aegis Network P&L for Malaysia in March.
