Chinese cooking oil brand pushes health credentials with record-breaking line dance

Mighty, a Chinese cooking oil brand, has entered the Guinness Book of Records for the world’s biggest ever line dance.

Simultaneously in the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenyang and Xi’an a record-breaking 31,697 people took part in the line dance, a hugely popular way to keep fit in China.

The idea, devised by Havas China’s sports and entertainment arm, is to position the Mighty brand as an advocate of a healthy lifestyle.

The dance, led by fitness star Wang Guangcheng, featured specially choreographed moves and three songs written by Havas that incorporated themes from Mighty’s brand.

The stunt will “exponentially improve Mighty’s brand image and strengthen its brand associations,” commented Jean Lin, national marketing manager of Mighty.
