Former Amobee VP Ryan Pestano joins ad tech firm Iponweb to lead APAC
Ryan Pestano, the former VP of product and operations for Amobee, has joined UK-headquartered ad tech firm Iponweb to run the business in Asia Pacific.
Pestano left Singtel’s mobile ad arm last month after a two-year spell with the company, and started as GM for Asia at Iponweb this week based in Singapore.
Iponweb started off as a software engineering firm in 2001 and three years later began developing programmatic and media trading capabilities. The company first entered Asia in 2010, through a partnership with DAC in Japan.
Pestano joins with a brief to expand the business geographically and support more clients in Asia Pacific, including Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
Pestano told Mumbrella that a key challenge for his new role is the education piece; getting more marketers and agencies up to speed on the programmatic opportunity and what it could mean for their businesses.
“There needs to be more education around programmatic,” he said. “What is also important is the rise of local supply. There’s a lot of heavy reliance on the bigger exchanges and international supply. Local publishers are starting to come on board, and I’d love to help that happen,” he said.
Pestano joined Amobee from Brandscreen and has also worked for WPP’s Media Innovation Group, which was later merged into Xaxis. He also performed a number of roles at Microsoft.
