Victor Ng exits after seven months as ECD of JWT Singapore
Victor Ng is leaving J. Walter Thompson Singapore after just over half a year as executive creative director.
In a short statement, the agency said: “Victor Ng has resigned from the role of ECD. He is leaving for personal reasons.”
The former Havas Singapore chief creative officer joined JWT in November last year.
He moves on just a few weeks after JWT Singapore announced the arrival of Marco Versolato from Brazilian creative hotshop DM9DDB as Singapore chief creative officer and global ECD for the Lux business.
Versolato came in to replace Valerie Cheng, who moved to Facebook shortly after the arrival of Ng.
In Ng’s career, he has had two spells at Leo Burnett Singapore, a stint at Mother in London, and at Euro RSCG, now Havas Worldwide, where according to his LinkedIn profile he became the youngest Singaporean to become chief creative officer of a multinational agency network, and DDB Shanghai.
That’s a shame.
ReplyWell, look on the bright side…it’s not like the agency was going anywhere to begin with.
ReplySometimes we must learn from our mistakes as managers. Learn from this and move on. Again. Looks like a step back and a step down is the best move from the looks of it. But you need some consistency to really be a leader. Climbing too fast is dangerous because you skip the lessons you need to learn. Be very careful what you wish for. The iron throne isn’t everything. Treat people kindly always.
ReplyI hope this agency can find people who can grow their business instead of doing meaningless things like adding junk awards trophies for meaningless scam ads.
If you take away their globally aligned unilever business, things look pretty bleak indeed.
They have been without a head of planning for a few months now….the place is full of inexperienced youngsters and they have just appointed a totally foreign name as CCO.
Arent CCOs meant to have an intimate knowledge of asian consumers to work in asia?
ReplyVic was one of the best copy-based creative leaders I’ve had the opportunity to work with in my career. Tenacious, stubborn, and always on the hunt for that hidden unpolished gem that would yield the most sparkling diamond. I’ve learnt loads from him in the short time I worked under him. Best of luck in your endeavours, Vic!
ReplyI think you mean ‘the gem that would yield him the most sparkling award trinkets’…
