MediaMonks launches in Shanghai

MediaMonksMediaMonks has finally announced the launch of an office in Shanghai.

The launch comes just under two years after MediaMonks voiced its intention to launch in China’s commercial capital, which is the Amsterdam headquartered digital production company’s ninth global operation.

MediaMonks Shanghai is being led by Niels Monsieurs.

Monsieurs joined MediaMonks as a digital producer in 2011. In 2014, he moved to Chengdu to become the EP of Dr. Panda, an independent producer of kids games, and he moved back to MediaMonks in September last year to set up the Shanghai business.

Monsieurs is supported by Chen Zhang as technical director.

The company counts AKQA, JWT, Ogilvy, and TBWA as agency clients.

MediaMonks CEO, Victor Knaap: “We’re hugely excited to be in China and announce this news. China is a unique market with its own digital platforms and culture. As a technology-driven company in advertising, we need to be close to the prevailing platforms and agencies we do business with to stay current and produce culturally relevant work. With a Shanghai office, we are doubling down on innovative advertising platforms such as WeChat while extending our footprint as a global production partner to creative agencies and their brands.”

The Shanghai operation was behind one of the company’s biggest projects of the year, the Intel-powered personalised film History Comes Alive for JWT Beijing.
