TV station rewards viewers with shopping discounts just for watching
Singapore-based TV station Rewind Networks has launched a marketing campaign that rewards its viewers just for watching its retro channel Hits.
By entering a promo code when visiting zalora.com/hits, viewers can get an 18% discount when using online shopping portal Zalora. Rewind is claiming this is the first time a TV station has offered its viewers a price promotion without obliging them to participate in some sort of competition or share personal information.
The offer is available to Hits’ viewers around the region, which amount to around 8m in Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Avi Himatsinghani, the CEO of Rewind Networks, the company he founded three and a half years ago after a long stint at Fox, commented: “Never in my last 20 years in the industry have I seen a TV network thank and reward viewers for watching their channel and we’re happy to be the first to do so. With this new initiative, HITS fans will not only benefit from our marketing partnerships, but will be primed to look forward to them in the future. It also gives people another reason to feel good about their pay-TV subscription.”
Tito Costa, Zalora’s CMO, said: Our partnership with Rewind Networks allows us to reach a wide audience and offer viewers a more compelling reason to stay tuned and watch their favourite shows on HITS TV.”
Rewind’s promotion comes as the company announces the hire of a manager of revenue and partnerships. Sabrina Mimouni has joined the media owner from Euronews, where she was regional distribution manager.
