Dentsu Aegis Network hires Google’s Tony Chen to do three jobs in China

Tony ChenDentsu Aegis Network has appointed Tony Chen, the ‘chief digital evangelist’ for Google China, to three key roles for the network’s biggest market outside of Japan.

Chen has been made CEO of Iprospect China, North Asia CEO of digital performance brands and chief innovation officer of Dentsu Aegis Network China.

He will report directly into three people, Phil Teeman, group MD of Dentsu Aegis Network China, Ruth Stubbs, CEO of Digital Performance Brands APAC and Motohiro Yamagishi, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network China.

Chen returns agency-side after a year and a half at Google. He was previously with GroupM China as chief digital officer, and also had stints at Dell, Yahoo and Ebay.

He joins with a brief to scale iProspect China, development DAN’s performance brands across North Asia, as well as driving innovation across the network.

Stubbs commented that Chen’s “rich experience covering such a wide range of digital disciplines is a great asset for us.”
