Vietnam’s DatVietVAC hires Saurav Bhowmik from Omnicom Media Group China as COO

Saurav BhowmikVietnamese agency DatVietVAC Group Holdings has appointed Saurav Bhowmik, the head of Omnicom Media Group’s Brand Science unit in China, as chief operating officer.

The move marks the well-travelled Bhowmik’s first role in Vietnam, and he moves to Ho Chi Minh City from Shanghai where he led Brand Science’s regional operation.

He replaces Andre Nair, who vacated the position at the end of last year.

Bhowmik commented: “Local marketers are looking for a more sophisticated approach to integrating data into their marketing activities so as to grow their businesses and maintain competitive advantage. My role with DatVietVAC will be to turn this data into meaningful information that leads to optimised results for our clients and our business.”

Bhowmik moves to DatVietVAC after six years at Omnicom in China, mostly with OMD in senior communications planning roles. Before Omnicom, Bhowmik was with Vizeum in Malaysia and Madison Communications in his native India.

DatVietVAC is one of Vietnam’s largest and oldest advertising groups, established in 1993. The company has eight subsidiaries in four offices across the country. WPP acquired a 30% stake in three of DatVietVAC companies in 2008.
