Matthias Schuecking, the Asia Pacific head of marketing for Airbnb, has departed the company after a two-year term, Mumbrella can reveal.

In his place, Nike Pacific marketing director Juliana Nguyen has taken on the top brand owner role for the home rentals service, and moves from Australia to Singapore to take the job.

Nguyen joins Airbnb after more than six years with Nike, where she was a member of the leadership team. In her time with the sportswear brand, the company delivered double digit sales growth every year.

“We’re delighted to welcome Juliana Nguyen to lead our marketing efforts across the APAC region,” an Airbnb spokesperson told Mumbrella.

Most of the Australian’s career has been spent client-side, with brands including Pernod Ricard, Seagram and Trimex, although before joining Nike she spent more than two years in Vietnam as the Ho Chi Minh City-based national MD for TBWA, the agency with which she will now work at Airbnb.

Schuecking joined Airbnb from Unilever, where he was regional marketing manager, in July 2014. His next move was unclear at the time of publishing.

He was the client behind some award-winning work for Airbnb, including the ‘Welcome to Airbnb’ ad created by TBWA\Singapore that won at the Mumbrella Asia awards.
