Singapore. Following last year’s groundbreaking partnership between two world-renowned brands, Porsche is once again proud to announce that it has been titled the ‘Official Automotive Partner’ of the ‘BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global 2016’ for the second year running.

Since its inception in 1972, the WTA Finals has been making history in noteworthy locales such as Boca Raton, Los Angeles, New York City, Oakland, Munich, Madrid, Doha and Istanbul. It was a momentous event in 2014 when Singapore was announced as the ninth city to host the prestigious WTA Finals. Affirming WTA’s presence and influence in Asia, Singapore will continue hosting the event every year until 2018.

In conjunction with the third installation of the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global, Porsche is introducing the new Cayenne Platinum Edition. This special version of the Cayenne is an eye-catching display of power, speed and control. Also making an appearance is the five-door compact SUV, Porsche Macan. Together, this fleet of 40 Porsches will chauffeur all of the officials and foremost tennis players coming to Singapore to compete at the WTA Finals.

Porsche has long been a supporter of women’s tennis, dating back to 1978 when the brand first titled the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, Europe’s oldest women’s indoor tournament. With its continuous support towards international tennis stars like Angelique Kerber as Porsche’s global brand ambassador, and as the official automotive partner of the BNP Paribas WTA Finals presented by SC Global here in Singapore, Porsche is definitely delivering on its commitment to bringing women’s professional tennis to the next level. Professional tennis player and Porsche brand ambassador Angelique Kerber, has been making waves in women’s professional tennis, having won her first Grand Slam win at Australian Open, the 2016 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix and placing second in the Singles segment of WTA’s Road to Singapore.

“Porsche as an exclusive sports car company with its strong roots in motorsports is committed to sporting excellence, and stands by its focus on precision, performance and excellence as a brand, a message that is clearly aligned with that of Women’s Tennis Association. Porsche places strong interest in the women tennis in line with our growing female customer group and close association to tennis as one of our customer’s preferred sports and hobbies. The fact that our brand ambassador is ahead in the competition and has been performing well makes us very happy. Particularly impressive was that Kerber excelled with not only her fantastic game performance but also her fighting spirit and charm, being the role model for young athletes. Porsche extends its support towards Kerber and is excited to witness her astounding performance when she arrives in Singapore and Porsche is honoured to be part of the WTA Finals.” Martin Limpert, Managing Director of Porsche Asia Pacific.

“Beyond just motorsports, Porsche has a long history of supporting athletes and sporting events all across the globe, and Porsche’s second year of collaboration with the prestigious ‘BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global 2016’ is testament to that. With this strategic partnership brings forth the decision to be once again, the official automotive partner of

Singapore’s biggest tennis event of the year, bringing together 40 Porsches – the world’s first occurrence outside of the Stuttgart Open – to celebrate Porsche’s long-standing commitment in supporting sporting events,” says Karsono Kwee, Executive Chairman of Stuttgart Auto, part of the Eurokars Group.

“Porsche’s partnership with women’s tennis has been a longstanding one, and we look forward to creating more synergies as both entities hold the same ethos. We are delighted that the Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition and Porsche Macan will be the official vehicles of the WTA Finals in Singapore this year, and are confident that the partnership will further exemplify the level of precision and excellence of both brands.” adds Melissa Pine, Vice-President of WTA Asia-Pacific and Tournament Director of the WTA Finals.

“It shows the strength of our relationships that Porsche is returning to partner the WTA Finals again. The event has bedded into the local scene very well, and sponsors like Porsche are a key reason for that. The support they offer the tournament and the activities they get behind are absolutely vital to the event’s success, and we are truly privileged to extend this partnership with Porsche and Stuttgart Auto,” said Adrian Staiti, Executive Vice President, Global Partnerships of Lagardère Sports, the event promoter.
