Airbnb hires Google Southeast Asia head of strategic partnerships Parin Mehta
In a big move on Singapore’s digital media scene, online lodging rental service Airbnb has hired Parin Mehta, the head of strategic partnerships for Google Southeast Asia.
Mehta has been a senior figure for Google for a decade, the last four years with the company based in Singapore, where he was responsible for driving sales growth in Southeast Asia, and for the Doubleclick publisher suite across the region.
He joins the company just over a fortnight after news emerged that Airbnb is to replace its chief marketing officer for Asia Pacific, with Juliana Nguyen coming in from Nike to replace Matthias Schuecking.
Besides working at Google, Mehta is a careers coach and startup mentor having founded the advisory service Captain CV in 2010. He was also behind a crowdsourced t-shirt design firm Pundressed among other ventures.
He joins Airbnb in September. The company has not commented on his move.
I’m not sure on all the in’s and out’s of the deal, but clearly a major coup for Airbnb.
