Amobee confirms hire of Robert Woolfrey as Asia SVP from Millennial Media

Robert WoolfreySingtel’s mobile advertising arm, Amobee, has confirmed the appointment of Robert Woolfrey as senior vice president in Asia, as revealed by Mumbrella in May.

Woolfrey joins from rival Millennial Media, owned by Verizon/AOL, where he was Asia Pacific managing director.  He set up Millennial Media’s operations in Southeast Asia in 2011, before being promoted to head APAC as regional MD February 2014.

Amobee chief executive Mark Strecker said Woolfrey will bring “significant digital experience” to the business.

“We believe the future of engaging with connected audiences will be led by access to the best data, combined with powerful creative and new ad formats,” he said. “Robert brings significant digital advertising experience and will allow us to continue to provide the most advanced marketing solutions to our customers.”

Woolfrey said in a statement: “I am delighted to be joining Amobee, a leader in digital marketing technology, at a time of significant expansion and innovation for the company, and a growth moment in digital advertising in Asia.

“Amobee has a distinct advantage through our technology platform, the brands we serve, and our relationship with the broader Singtel Group, which has nearly 600 million mobile subscribers.”

Before joining Millennial Media, Woolfrey ran sales for the Southeast Asia region for InMobi. He has also worked in senior sales and managerial roles for Zad Mobile and Consilient.

In a separate development, Amobee announced the launch of Amobee Triggers, a digital media monitoring system which enables marketers to launch campaigns at times which “best drive engagement and performance”
