Melvin Lim, the CEO of Havas Media Group Singapore and Malaysia, has been handed a regional role at the media agency after five years of growing the business to number four in the Singapore market.

Lim takes on the role of chief commercial officer, APAC, with a business development brief across all of the media agency’s brands, which include Arena Media, Socialyse, Ecselis, Mobext and Affiperf.

Jacqui Lim will succeed him as CEO of Havas Media Singapore, moving up from MD after two years with the agency.

Melvin Lim is also regional head for Havas Sports & Entertainment, a job he took on in 2014, the year that industry rumours circulated about him moving back to the client-side. Lim, who joined Havas Media in 2011 from DBS, has a CV that includes high-profile marketing roles at Singtel and Asia Pacific Breweries.

His promotion comes off the back of new business wins including Singtel, Changi Airport, CapitaLand, Warner Bros, Aspial Lee Hwa Group and Gardens By The Bay.

Arguably Havas Media Singapore’s biggest achievement was holding on to NTUC Fairprice after a full service pitch last year while sibling Havas Worldwide lost the creative account to ADK.

Havas Media Singapore was named Southeast Asia Media Agency of the Year at the Mumbrella Asia awards in March, and is ranked four in the market by RECMA.

The promotions for the Lims comes two months after the agency named Omnicom Media Group’s Andreas Vogiatzakis as the new leader for the fully owned operation in Malaysia, taking over Melvin Lim’s role as CEO for Malaysia.
