The announcement:

Organizers of the APPIES APAC 2016 proudly announce the line-up of keynote speakers for the annual flagship event today in line with the theme “Relearn Everything”.

Set to be held at the National University of Singapore Society Guild House on the 25 and 26 August this year, Appies APAC 2016 is honoured to feature Professor Tan Yinglan, CEO of Sequoia Capital Singapore; Piotr Jakubowski, Chief Marketing Officer of Go-Jek; and Scott Mackenzie, Vice President of Channels, Asia, and NBCUniversal International Networks.

As the first hire by Sequoia Capital in Singapore coupled with his recent portfolio in grooming new start-ups such as Carousell, Go-Jek, Tokopedia, Appier, Pinkoi and, Professor Tan is excited to share how Sequoia Capital makes sound investment decisions in a very dynamic field of high tech start-ups and their success stories on their incubator programme for new start-ups to survive in the competitive global market.

Besides Professor Tan, we are also honoured to invite Tricia Weener, Head of Marketing for HSBC Commercial Banking and Global Banking & Markets, Asia Pacific, to address the future of marketing in her keynote presentation. Her empowering and insightful sharing gathered from her over 20 years of experience in the marketing fraternity would definitely allow participants to keep abreast with what’s ahead in global marketing.

Another distinguished keynote speaker is Piotr Jakubowski who took on one of Indonesia’s most exciting marketing jobs – the CMO of Go-Jek after moving from digital agency VML. Popularly- known as Indonesia’s “Uber for motorcycles” service, Go-Jek is a ride-hailing app that took Indonesia’s traffic-clogged cities by storm. Besides rides, Go-Jek has expanded into a myriad of other services, including food delivery and courier. “Our monthly completed orders grew over 60 percent with no increase in subsidies in Q2 2016, meaning that we are processing roughly eight bookings per second per month,” commented Piotr Jakubowski, “That’s about 667,000 rides per day!”

Lastly, Scott Mackenzie, Vice President, Channels, Asia, NBCUniversal International Networks will share how their Content Studio works hand-in-hand with agencies and brands to create engaging original content, distinctively programmed and amplified through a media-agnostic distribution methodology.
