UM wins Acer Malaysia media business from Starcom

Acer logoMedia agency UM has announced winning the Acer business in Malaysia, taking on the account from rival Starcom.

The announcement:

Petaling Jaya, 23 August 2016 – UM Malaysia wins Acer media business on merits of its Better Science, Better Art, Better Outcomes philosophy promise.

Acer Malaysia’s Head of Marketing Stephanie Ho said, “UM put forward a vision that blurred the lines between media and creativity, data and content, science and art. The UM philosophy appealed to us because of its in-built strategy to adapt to the fast-paced market conditions, while staying connected to consumers’ ever changing needs through real-time insights.

“This resonates with our philosophy of responding to consumers’ needs with solutions that creatively inspires our users’ day-to- day lives, and partnering them to achieve more by making technology accessible to everyone.”

UM Malaysia, a six-time winner of the Malaysian Media Awards ‘Agency of the Year’ title, is also the only Malaysian agency to be awarded at Festival of Media Global 2016, taking home 1 Gold and 3 Bronze. The agency was also awarded 2 Gold and 3 Silver at Festival of Media Asia 2016.

UM won the account from incumbent Starcom Mediavest. The agency will be tasked to carry out work across traditional and digital media including radio, print, digital and out-of- home.

We see this as an opportunity to partner a brand that has become a trusted electronics technology producer and brought technology to nearly every corner of the world.

He added, “There are two shared beliefs that made this match possible. The first, stop thinking of the sale as an end point or an isolated action, and rather consider it in terms of a customer journey with purchase opportunities at each stage. Two, brands today are not built on buying mass reach, but by orchestrating intimate relationships with consumers.”

The team officially took over the business from August 1 st for a 12 month contract focusing on new product launches and driving product sales.
