Y&R has hired an executive creative director for the sub-region of Indochina for the first time, bringing in of Kittisak ‘Beer’ Poonnotok from BBDO Singapore to work across the WPP network’s Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos operations.

Beer will be based in Ho Chi Minh City, and replaces Kit Ong, Y&R Vietnam’s chief creative officer, who has moved on from the agency after a five-year stint.

Beer brings into the role 14 years of advertising experience, and his appointment marks a return to the network where he worked in Thailand and Singapore. At BBDO, he was associate creative director.

He will report to Y&R’s Indochina CEO Peter Skalberg, who returned to Y&R from Publicis Indonesia to run the fast-growing sub-region at the end of last year.

Beer commented: “Four years ago I made the move from Thailand to Singapore, in what I describe as ‘stepping out of my house to step into myself’ and this is the next exciting stage of my career journey.”

Skalberg noted: “Y&R was one of the first multinational networks to commit to this vibrant sub-region by establishing an Indochina operation. We are already seeing the business benefits of this, and we welcome Beer’s expertise to further leverage the significant creative potential here.”
