McCann hires Wunderman Japan CEO Antony Cundy as chief client officer

Antony CundyMcCann has hired Antony Cundy from Wunderman as chief client officer in Japan.

Cundy, who was Wunderman Japan’s CEO, joins with experience at Hakuhodo Lintas, Beacon Communications and DDB, where he spent six years as GM of the Tokyo office.

In a press release that is unusual for Japan in that it draws attention to competitors, Cundy said: “I am truly excited to join MWG in Japan at a time of such great opportunity in the market. Being able to leverage the talent and scale of the largest international network against the usual defaults of Dentsu and Hakuhodo is an inspiring prospect.”

He will report to Charles Cadell, the network’s regional president, who moved to Tokyo in April and also holds the title of representative director, president and CEO of McCann Worldgroup Japan.

Cadell said that as the agency refocuses its operations around opportunities for clients in digital and data, Cundy’s experience prove to be “invaluable to help us lead the way”.
